Perched dramatically on a rugged rock foundation, Marla by Theo Bothma Architects & Design (TBAD) redefines the relationship between architecture and landscape. This residence isn’t just built on the rocks—it becomes part of them. Every line of the structure is designed to complement the raw terrain, creating a SPACE that feels both anchored and elevated.
Floor-to-ceiling glass façades frame uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountainscape, inviting light and reflections of nature deep into the interior. The upper level, clad in bold dark tones, appears to float above the lighter stone base, a striking play of contrast that emphasizes the home’s modernist edge.
Outdoor terraces and courtyards weave through the rocky terrain, ensuring that Marla’s residents live in continuous dialogue with the elements—sunrise breakfasts on the patio, twilight views from the cantilevered lounge, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
This project captures the TBAD philosophy: luxury is not about excess, it’s about belonging. By harmonizing robust concrete, natural stone, and expansive glass, Marla proves that SPACES can be both uncompromisingly modern and deeply connected to nature.
In just one glance, our “SPACES” speak. Designed to captivate, built to last.
